Principal trombone of the Halle Orchestra in Manchester, Katy previously held the position of co-principal trombone of the London Symphony Orchestra.
She has played on numerous film soundtracks including such films as Star Wars, Revenge of the Sith, and Harry Potter, Order of the Phoenix.
With the LSO she toured the world under conductors such as Pierre Boulez, Bernard Haitink and Sir Colin Davis. Her position in this orchestra meant that as well as playing Principal trombone she had to be flexible enough to play second trombone, bump, and even 3rd trombone in Schoenberg’s Five Orchestral Pieces.
In addition to her previous positions in the London Symphony Orchestra and BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Katy has also appeared as Guest Principal Trombone with the Philharmonia, London Philharmonic Orchestra, London Chamber Orchestra, London Sinfonietta, Britten Sinfonia.
Aside from orchestral playing, Katy is also a member of the world-renowned brass quintet, Fine Arts Brass, and has undertaken a solo tour in the UK of recitals and masterclasses.
