Jenni Phillips

Jenni Phillips studied at the Purcell School and the Royal College of Music with Michael Winfield. She then went on to win a Countess of Munster Scholarship to study at the National Centre for Orchestral Studies.

Soon after leaving NCOS, she was appointed as 2nd Oboe in the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra where she also frequently played Principal. The orchestra enjoyed a regular touring and recording schedule.
In 1993, she left the orchestra to pursue a career in Birmingham, where she regularly freelanced with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (CBSO) and Birmingham Royal Ballet. Jenni has also appeared in the oboe section with many other British orchestras.

Having also been an oboe teacher for the Senior Conservatoire since 1996, Jenni became Woodwind Co-ordinator in 2010 and then Head of Woodwind in August 2011.

Jenni has been involved in many education ventures, including workshops for both CBSO and Birmingham Contemporary Music Group (BCMG). She has appeared as guest specialist at many Double Reed events and has coached the oboes at National Youth Orchestra  Open Days as well as the CBSO Youth Orchestra.
